Well there's info out there we can use for the gameplay and like with poker and similar, explaining it's harder than sitting down and playing it probably (she says blithely as she's never played poker in her life and doesn't intend to start now  ).

If push comes to shove people can forget CMO and just play Montana Red Dog or Gin Rummy over a pint or three or whatever they like, as the decks will be still be standard :p

Meerkat's agreed to do some tarot reading so if anyone else is into that then that's another side of it as well as it's all still to do with luck and good fortune

Time for another bump 'cos I'm getting a bit indecisive over the caroc cards o_O

It's the second deck of 'normal' cards needed to play CMO and I'm wondering about doing a slightly different colourway design with this one so here's some thoughts bearing in mind I've used black, red and a goldy yellow (which I'll keep as it's good for flesh and neutral colours) so far

Dark blue (instead of black), red and goldy yellow

Black, mid/royal blue (instead of red) and goldy yellow

Black green and goldy yellow

Indigo (instead of black), red-purple and goldy yellow

I decided I'm keeping to the trad colours for now although I might go purple purely for a caroc set (with only 8 number cards per 8 suits and a Knight every one ;) ).

OK - Ms. Dallaway at Transworld has been very silent on my email asking for permission to use the forum turtle so I've bee playing around with a more original design using my own turtles again. With a lot of help from an excellent website on tesselations (think MC Escher) I've come up with this...

which certainly works and begs the title 'Turtles all the way' Except it's Dragons all the way too - they're just not so easy to spot in the teal-green and gold but I've done a landscape version where you can see them more easily

Looks like the CA's on the same track so far as the Major Arcana goes which may possibly explain why Lyndsey at Transworld's not come back to me on the subject of using the forum turtle for our cards yet...

So - let's go with the generic Escher-style design I've just done and then we don't need anyone's permission provided we're not flogging 'em ;) If anybody else wants to have a look at maybe doing a special back design for the actual convention to replace that one I'd mocked up then please feel free to have a go - I have a template for that as well so just PM me for it

Ta-DAH!!!!!

Minor arcana court cards done so we have 2 full generic sets to play with.

Kings

Queens

Jacks (& a Jill)

So this time we have Crowns (mixed ethnic nobility); Cups (assorted Disc-ish deities); Octangles (non-specific undead); Wands (non-specific magic-users)
