So this time we have Crowns (mixed ethnic nobility); Cups (assorted Disc-ish deities); Octangles (non-specific undead); Wands (non-specific magic-users)
 They're nobody in particular really, although some you could more or less pin down - for instance Ptraci (or Pteppic's paternal Auntie ;) ) for the Queen of Crowns and the King's Agatean, but the Jack's just a random barbarian Horse Lord (note the large horse/elephant ball of dung :p ) and you could say that the Queen of Wands is Magrat if you like (I was going to a Voodoo witch-queen, but that would definitely have to have been Mrs Googol who gets on my nerves, so I didn't... :) ).

They're more to do with the suits and how that fits to the Disc rather than character-based - that's for Cheery & Mystmoon & Co to play about with

Talking of which - these sets show that the templates work as needed (I've done mockups and they all work fine) so get cracking with those templates files guys n gals

Some more news - I've finally heard back from Lyndsey at Transworld and we're probably OK to use the turtle again but she's going to run it past their digital folks. That's more or less what they did last year with the bookmark and leaflets so I think permission will be forthcoming

For those who've forgotten what it looks like we'll be using this design for the back of the cards at the convention

and you can choose from these two for general usage ;)

OK - at Lynsey's suggestion I've also emailed Colin Smythe tonight to run all this past him in case there's any copyright issues that need to be cleared with him for us to run this at the Convention. We're not selling anything so this won't prevent us going on with the project as we started out with it (just for our own amusement and for private use with no money changing hands or licenses being abused for commercial production), but on the other hand we don't want to upset any applecarts at an official event of course, so best to get that past him officially now rather than later. He might also be forthcoming about possible rival card makers in the Wincanton area... ;)

Sleeping around usual levels - very patchy in other words, but that's prolly more the weather than this

That's me done with the design side for Discworld now so far as the templates go, although I'm going to looking for some reader-proofers for the 'instructions' on the gameplay that's coming up later this week when I've done some photography. After that it's over to Cheery and the others with the character designs for the court cards and to the rest of you on the actual playing of the game :p

Now I've got a workable template I'm probably going to try more original designs and hope to produce some commercially perhaps (some of the minor arcana court cards might cross over into that in a slightly revised form as they're not so specific to Discworld), but I'll be selling those set(s) on DreamWorlds or on my personal site as I need to get some money-making schemes to finance various long-term 'lifestyle' goals :p Don't ask about those - they're really boring...

Nothing to do with me  Actually I don't rate Thorntons that highly anymore - this is my chocolatier of choice. One of my lifestyle goals could be to stay in their hotel on St. Lucia for a bit though

They've done an Eton Mess choccie for a couple of years now - and that really is orgasmic

Nope - they do cheap(er) boxes although they are pricey - the regular chocolate tasting boxes (440g/@1lb trays) are £17.95 and worth it as you get discount on their other lines if you're a member. You gets what you pays for with chocolate though and theirs are the best

I agree their chocolate really is good, I can't have the Eton mess one though :(

egg allergy? Bummer - I adore meringues almost as much as choc :)

OK - Thanks to MAD and Tony I've been able to cobble together a guide on the gameplay from the article of the L-space wiki. Here's the cover

It runs to 15 A5 pages but as that's a comprehensive guide to the gameplay I'm not going to post it on here or put it on the web to download until we've got proper go-aheads with it all. However - I do need proof-readers for it, so if anyone's interested in looking at this now, if you PM me I'll send you a pdf to print off and if you want to play it for real then we'll see about getting some cards over to you as well (either the e-file or I'll see to printing and hard mail it to you ;) )

edit - as you can't put attachments in PMs I'll need an email addy from you please ;)

Still have all my old typesetting software ;)

I'm having email issues (bloody BT  ) but I think it's still sending out OK - if you've PMed me and not received 2 PDF files yet please let me know and I'll do via the webmail *stomps back off to shout at someone in Calcutta again*

Late in the day

I realize that this is very late in the day and I must admit that I haven't read all of this thread yet (I'll be here all night again and I want to follow up on the link you suggested Jan van Quirm) so feel free to ignore my musings.
Really, there were only two (I did read about a dozen or so pages and I am impressed with what you've come up with so far):
  • Has anyone thought of doing a Tarot type deck? Probably too complicated and I would agree with the consensus otherwise.
  • What about Binky and Gaspode? Or even Maurice? Again, probably just complicates matters. After all, you have to draw the line (no pun intended) somewhere.
If you want any help with calligraphy, I'm quite good at that (I did a brief spell of comic book lettering, but, unless you're Todd Klein, the pay is rubbish and you don't get to use any creativity, they just want the run of the mill block capitals). Best of Luck and I'd certainly love to own a deck.
