As I am sure you are all aware (ie; I'm sure you are all NOT aware), in 1988 a lovely little book was published called "The Drabble Project". Only 1,000 books were published, each having its own number and all proceeds from the book went to charity. 100 writers each wrote a 100-word story. As well as there being a story from Asimov, Terry Pratchett also contributed. If you see the link at the bottom, you can read Terry's contribution (titled "Incubust"), other examples, and the rules.
Two further books were published, the last one being dedicated to Doctor Who and written by a whole bunch of Doctor Who actors, scriptwriters etc etc. But I'm sure all true Doctor Who fans already have a copy.
So here's the challenge.
Write a 100-word story then pm it to me. Your story can be about absolutely anything you like eg; Discworld, or a poem, or politics, or goats, or even a story containing only words that begin with a vowel. :ugeek:
"One hundred words must be EXACTLY one hundred words: not a syllable more, not a letter less. In addition, up to fifteen words (title, sub-titles and the like) are allowed. Hyphenated-words-are-argued-about."
I'll post the sories as, and when I receive them (no names included), then on Valentine's Day I'll post all the stories together on a seperate thread (no names included) and everyone can vote on which they think is the best story.
The winner will be crowned Forum Writer of 2012 and will receive an amazing prize (definitely) and a 5-book publishing contract from Transworld (maybe).
Only the writers of the top three voted stories will be identified.
You can send me as many stories as you like.
