Re: 2013 WRITER OF THE YEAR- ABANDONED!!

Batty, Sjoerd, Crys

I made a list of the top 6 drabbles from the book I liked the best. But I've lost it.

I think my fave was on page 72 (surprisingly common ommision - or something like that). Sheer brilliance!

I also liked the Spock one, the baby one (page 12 - maybe), the footprints in the sand one, the turning 5 and going to school one, and one more I can't remember.

If you combine the first and third (maybe), it's Pip's Bang. :ugeek:

When I first found that, me and the girls in the office upstairs were in stitches all afternoon.
Russell Howard showed it on his show for about ten episodes two years back.

What the hell is a drabble?
I think I have selective reading too. I had no idea that a 100 word story was a "drabble" either.

Yes, del, but you weren't on the forum for the whole of the competition, so when you do return, you have to read sooo many threads that your brain cannot take everything in!

Now, Bouncy ... !!

What was this all about anyway? I just saw pip wanted me to participate (whether or not he was sarcastic about it, i don't know) but what was it about ? *runs around in circles, screaming*

no sarcasm intended . more curiosity. I liked the way the writers identities were unknown . great chance to suprise us. i didn't write fiction for years so enjoyed the response in this.

I'm still confused :(
On the 27 Jan, pooh posted a competition, under the thread title: Forum Writer of 2012 Competition
The rules and history are as follows:
poohcarrot said:
As I am sure you are all aware (ie; I'm sure you are all NOT aware), in 1988 a lovely little book was published called "The Drabble Project". Only 1,000 books were published, each having its own number and all proceeds from the book went to charity. 100 writers each wrote a 100-word story. As well as there being a story from Asimov, Terry Pratchett also contributed. If you see the link at the bottom, you can read Terry's contribution (titled "Incubust"), other examples, and the rules.

Two further books were published, the last one being dedicated to Doctor Who and written by a whole bunch of Doctor Who actors, scriptwriters etc etc. But I'm sure all true Doctor Who fans already have a copy.

So here's the challenge.

Write a 100-word story then pm it to me. Your story can be about absolutely anything you like eg; Discworld, or a poem, or politics, or goats, or even a story containing only words that begin with a vowel. :ugeek:

"One hundred words must be EXACTLY one hundred words: not a syllable more, not a letter less. In addition, up to fifteen words (title, sub-titles and the like) are allowed. Hyphenated-words-are-argued-about."

I'll post the sories as, and when I receive them (no names included), then on Valentine's Day I'll post all the stories together on a seperate thread (no names included) and everyone can vote on which they think is the best story.
The winner will be crowned Forum Writer of 2012 and will receive an amazing prize (definitely) and a 5-book publishing contract from Transworld (maybe).

Only the writers of the top three voted stories will be identified.

You can send me as many stories as you like.
So, there you are!

Write exactly a 100 word story, with up to an additional 15 word title, and pm it to pooh, who will submit it to the forum, without revealing who the author is.

We then vote on the ones we like the most, without knowing who wrote it, which means that the votes are honest and not swayed by personalities.

Hope this helps!
