666 Park Avenue sets up residence at ITV2

ITV2 has acquired the highly sought after, new spine-tingling supernatural drama series 666 Park Avenue from Warner Bros. International Television Distribution.

Based on the book series from Alloy Entertainment (publishers/producers of Gossip Girl and The Vampire Diaries), 666 Park Avenue stars Terry O’Quinn (Lost), Vanessa Williams (Ugly Betty, Desperate Housewives), Rachael Taylor (Charlie’s Angels, Grey’s Anatomy) and Dave Annable (Brothers & Sisters), and will air on ABC in the US this Autumn, debuting September 30. The 60-minute drama will then have its UK premiere exclusively on ITV2.

The series title refers to the seductively appealing Upper East Side apartment building in which the drama is set – an address with a dark history and a mysterious owner (O’Quinn), where shadowy, supernatural forces are at play within its secretive walls.

When an idealistic young couple from the Midwest – Jane Van Veen and Henry Martin (Taylor and Annable) – arrive in the glamorous centre of New York City, they are offered the opportunity to manage the historic Drake apartment building and are rapidly seduced by the wealthy, intoxicating lifestyle of the elite who inhabit it.

The building’s powerful owner, Gavin Doran (O’Quinn), and his beautiful wife, Olivia (Williams), are at the heart of the mysterious forces at play in The Drake, which maintains a dark hold over all of its tenants. Realizing that everything comes at a price, the young couple soon find themselves caught up in the building’s supernatural machinations.

Director of Digital Channels and Acquisitions, Angela Jain said, "It's great to be back in business buying the best of American drama and 666 Park Avenue is definitely part of that. We really think the ITV2 audience will love this dramatic and spooky show and are excited that we will be the show's home in the UK."

Warner Bros. International Television President Jeffrey R. Schlesinger added, "ITV2 has been the perfect home for a number of our younger skewing series over the years. I am sure ITV2’s viewers will enthusiastically embrace this high quality new show, become very invested in the characters, and find it compelling viewing."

This sexy, chilling new drama also stars Mercedes Masöhn (Chuck), Robert Buckley(One Tree Hill), Helena Mattsson (Desperate Housewives), Erik Palladino (ER) and Samantha Logan (Law & Order: SVU). Based upon the book series by Gabriella Pierce, 666 Park Avenue is executive produced by Matthew Miller (Chuck), David Wilcox (Fringe), Leslie Morgenstein (The Vampire Diaries) and Gina Girolamo (The Lying Game). The series is produced by Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Alloy Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television.

Oh dear.

On top of not so good ratings, 666 Park Avenue has suffered badly in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

The studio sets where it is filmed were, at one stage, under six feet of water.

I have a feeling the network will take this as an excuse to cancel it altogether.

Oh dear, and ITV2 have just got the rights.
