71-Hour Ahmed a werewolf or something like it?

when Vimes runs towards the shooter in "Jingo" in an attempt to save Prince Khufurahs life.. something runs by him.. it is described as:
" something owertook him. it looked like a wolf would look if some of its ancestors would have been a long haried Klatchian hunting dog, one of those graceffull things that are all nose and hair."

the dog is never mentioned again and later they find chewed cloves at the scene were the shooter dropped to his death..

is there something that is pointing in the direktion that 71-Hour Ahmed would be something like a werewolf or am i just grabbing for straws?

That was Angua.

As to the cloves - if I remember correctly, they were put there to implicate Ahmed - but I may be mis-remembering.

Ahmed can't be a werewolf for as far as I remember he puts a silver collar on Angua when she goes onto their ship to sniff around.
