On October 18, fantasy author Sir Terry Pratchett will be making a rare appearance at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. The man who once said “I wouldn’t pay more than a couple of quid to see me, and I’m me” will be promoting his fiftieth book Snuff. This time around, fan favourite Commander Sam Vimes of the Ankh Morpork City Watch is caught up in a murder-mystery while on holiday.

I think the convention is much better value ;)

For just a little bit more you get to spend the whole weekend in the company of Mr P!

PS Yes, I might be a bit biased.

£35-£45 and include a copy of Snuff.
That's bloody expensive. Somebody's making out like a bandit here.

At least at con you get you money's worth (well, except at the bar, but this year we're going in with a plan).

I'm already signed up for the convention, I'm just being greedy now.
Slap 1 quid on 17 black on the roulette table for me Pinflod - wow! look it won - that's 35 quid! You take it Pinflod and go and see TP.

I don't think that 35 quid is expensive. o_O
How much does a band cost to watch nowadays, or how much to watch MU play?

I bet MU cost more than TP and I know who I'd rather watch.

Probably a lot more ;) I was quoting the average I paid for Ash, Passion Pit and 30 Seconds to Mars in the past couple of years.

BTW, may see Ash again in October, it's the 10th anniversary of Free All Angels and they are touring the album again, with Charlotte joining them again for the first time in almost as many years.

IMO Ash sufferd from the same problem as the Smiths, the fast songs were brill, but the slow songs were pants.

Why do under 21s require proof of age to purchase beer? o_O
It's to do with licensing laws - the drinks licence doesn't come with the venue and with anything do with temporary events like gigs the organisers have to jump through all kinds of H&S hoops mainly to do with security and first aid, but also to stop underage drinking and 21 is deemed more 'responsible' than 18 in that they won't be buying drinks for much younger mates (in theory).

As it is the accompanying adults probably get it for the under 18s but it's just part of the deal

Oh don't get me started.

The age you can legally buy alcohol in the UK is 18. Why the fupp the supermarkets all have "Under 21" posters up is beyond me.
