There is going to shortly be an updated Discworld Companion. I know this because in the DWCon auction I bought a manuscript of "I shall wear midnight" signed by Stephen Briggs which has the following on;

"White wine stain inflicted by Stephen briggs whilst using this book in the production of a revised "Discworld Companion"

"

Funnily enough, I found that out this very morning, when I bought the old one (mint condition, never got round to buying it till now) this morning at Oxfam books, and looked it up on amazon to see how much I should have paid for it.

But it's not out until next year :(

I find it good when I want something short and easy to read . Its not something that has to be read cover to cover in one sequence so allows for a light catch up.

Is the DW Companion book useful?
I saw it in the overpriced book shop for AUD$25 and I was wondering if it was worth it. o_O

The price makes me sad. :( I could get a really nice skirt with that money.
I honestly wouldn't be without mine. It's as tatty as hell and full of markers, but I do have a nice pristine copy as well. It can actually be read from cover to cover and is very interesting. :laugh:

Look around, Jane. You should be able to get it cheaper than that.

I've been stalking thrift and charity and church shops for the last few months looking for cheap Discworld. So far, the only ones I've been able to find are the Josh Kirby cover books - only about the first 20 or so. :(

I guess I'll keep looking and if I give up, I'll just buy it or order it.

I just went to the sites, and wow, overpriced. D:

Australian Online Bookstore - $16.49 + $7.00 shipping = $23.49
Nile - $17.99 + $6.50 shipping = $24.49
Shop in the mall - $24.69
Amazon US (I might still have some money on a giftcard...) - $7.43 + $12.50 shipping = US$19.93 ---> ~AU$23

Nooooooo!!!! :cry: They're all mass-market paperbacks!
Why does it have to be so expensive? :(
A used copy from a 2nd hand shop might be $1 - $8, while a new copy from a discount shop might be $14.50. If only I could find them!

We got these 3V prepay credit cards in ireland the last year or so which can be topped up in a shop for those who can't or won't get a normal one. They are great for the likes of getting stuff across the net. Don't know if OZ has an equivalent yet but might be worth a look. When it comes to second hand books etc it kicks ass

You are then ready to order a VISA Gift Card online.
That's like saying "Call here if your phone is broken", isn't it?
I'll have to wait until the weekend to be able to get to the physical Post Office. :( Isn't a prepaid credit card the same as a debit card?
*scratches head*

I think the reason why my sister isn't going to help me collect DW is because she's gone and done a Susan Pevensey! She used to have a bookcase in her room, and it's gotten replaced by a shoe rack! :cry:
