Winner of Best New Board Game in Britain at the UK Games Expo, Ankh-Morpork will astonish and astound all who play it. It is now available to buy from places like the Discworld Emporium and other outlets priced at £35.50 including P&P. You can also pre-order the collectors edition from Tree Frog Games.Trouble is brewing on the mean streets of Ankh-Morpork, and it’s time for you to play your part in its story. Be one of seven personalities vying for control of the Discworld’s premier city using your cunning and guile to complete your secret agenda. Along the way you’ll encounter Wizards, Assassins, Watchmen and Thieves… all of whom will affect your fortunes and continually change the face of this mercantile metropolis.

Whether you’re hungry for power, wealth, property of simply trying to keep the peace, each visit to Ankh-Morpork promises a different player experience. This beautifully aesthetic game immerses the player in Pratchett’s most unruly city, bringing Discworld to life at every turn Featuring 143 individually illustrated cards depicting the city’s most beloved characters, locations and organisations, Ankh-Morpork blends multifaceted gameplay with rich visual stylings and the distinctive humour of Sir Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series.

Is it just me that thinks this game is expensive? I'll admit that I have no interest in board games at all, but £35 seems very costly. Or is this a reasonable price? I have no idea. o_O

Normal Monopoly is around £15-£20 btu the special editions are more. Then you have the likes of Logo Board game which is £32, Ariculate whcih is £32 and Scrabble which is £22 so i'd say its about on the money for the moment...

Really? In the U.S. you can 'basic' versions of Monopoly and Scrabble for around US $12 (what is that--£8-£9?) I wonder what makes it so expensive. Then again, I paid an arm and a leg for my Thud! game. Then again, Thud! is far more collectible.

To me, in the surface this seems like a far more fun game to own than to play.

And is the same thing as "The Watch" game that's been mentioned elsewhere, or are these two separate games?

And, finally, I have to admit, after reading all of the DW books, that I have no idea of why '8' is a not a good number in DW lore.

Did you read the Colour of Magic? ;)
Yes I did. And disliked it so much that I quickly forgot nearly all of it (except for the airplane bit whihc someone else mentioned). :)

Becky was selling the standard version of Ankh-Morpork for £30 and the new Guards! Guards! game for £34.99.

I think this is the standard price for new board games. You need to compare it to other new games rather than old classics like Monopoly which have already made back all their R&D Costs.

Thanks Jason. It's probably a very good price, I have no idea how much these things cost these days. I suspect it's a must for people who are into board games.

If you want to know why 8 is not a good number in DW, you should read it again :p

I would consider that a violation of Geneva Convention. :)

Don't tell Pooh, but I'd be far more amenable to reading Pyramids again than COM.... :)
