I think there's potential for much hilarity with this, I know what some of the Monks are planning and they have some *awesome* and devious ideas!

Just had a good read of that link and it looks good.
I would love to go however I've never been before to any convention or anything. Is it fancy dress or something? I'm such a newb with these things

Also is the venue and event disable friendly with lots of places to sit? I'm partly disabled and can't walk far due to athritus in the spine so would love to know these things before parting with hubbys cash

Ps nice forums too (found link at back of I shall wear midnight)

I went to my 1st Convention last year and it's fully mobility impaired friendly. I use a walking stick and can't move that fast and there were plenty of wheelchair users there too and there were ramps and lifts all over for the event areas. They also operate a 'blue badge' system where people with disabilities were admitted to the larger auditoriums first so they could get settled in suitable places (end of rows, near the front etc).

It's the Hilton Birmingham right next to the NEC, so it's a top flight international standard hotel and consequently it ain't exactly cheap but the discounted room rate (B&B) is actually v. good value, although the beer's not too great - we have a breakout plan to a good local pub in the offing however... ;)

Ah good to know I won't be getting in anyones way and no matter how many pit stops I need.

Heh, they've all answered the questions quicker than I could but just to re-iterate, fancy dress isn't compulsary but feel free to dress up if you like and the place is set up to be very accessable for all disabilities and in the areas that weren't so good last time we're in talks with the hotel to make it better.

There are loads of places to sit too so that won't be a problem :)

Come along, it's always awesome fun!

Coo! You might just be number 800, that's brilliant, I do like round numbers :)

Also, it's still 10 months to go until the convention and we've got fewer than 100 places left - unless Brian decides we should sell more of course!

I like to think that everyone is just coming to buy me gin.

Never fear! If you create a website login when you buy your memberships you can go in at any point and change the name so you can always put something silly in now (and not tell him).

I do like problems that are easily solved, especially on a Friday!
