*crosses all extremities that can be crossed and a few that cant*

Still ,given the amount of time things like that take to get through medical trials it might be too late to be of use to terry by the time it gets approval.

Alzheimer treatment

Hi,

I started reading Pratchetts books at the end of 2009 and haven't stopped since. Almost finished with The Truth. A friend back then told me that he has been diagnosed with Alzheimer so whenever I read some article about ways to treat it I feel the urge to somehow let him know. But since he has a quite large fanbase he is getting flooded with lot of fanmail so how to get just a link through to him? I hope he does look in the forum every once in a while.

Well there are many ways out there in development to treat it. But it is wrong to put your hopes in the pharma industry always talking about a breakthrough that is very close but never going anywhere. There are many studies for new compounds and drugs but they arent interested in a cure, only in treatments. Thats why cancer cure research goes nowhere. Much more money can be made through treatment to get as much money out of the people before they die. Of course natural remedies are never mentioned anywhere because you cant patent them. So even if you dont believe in natural cures it doesnt hurt to give it a shot especially when your life is at stake. Also its important to really get the natural stuff and not some artificial produced supplement from some geneticly modiefied bacteria or whatever they use to get a worthless substitude out of.

Welcome Iks83 but since the article doesn't bother to reference a single one of the "studies" it talks about I wouldn't bother getting excited about it

Well its a story from FoxNews so what do you expect? Mainstream media never puts up any links to studies. And since its not some expensive new drug on trials but a spice then I dont see the problem why you cant try it. Waiting for a government approved cure is a waste of time because there never be one. Oh yes they approve all kind of nasty things, Aspartame, GMO Food, chlorined chicken, Thimerosal and so on. If they say on the news studies prove that those things are completely harmless then noone cares for a source on the study. Oh but when you read about natural cures then everyone wants to see the study and look for any excuse to dismiss it.
