I have always read them in the order they were published - because that's how long I've been reading them. You can follow that list, read them in published order or dip in and pretty much read them in any order.

The advantage of reading them in published order is that you get to see the evolution of Discworld and its denizens.

Welcome to the site. :)

Hello again.
Thank you for the answers, but still haven't got a clue what to do. Well, I guess I'll just wait for the moment.

Thanks Tonyblack, however still avoiding most of the topics as I am trying to avoid spoilers. :)
Btw, Cardiff, Wales nice one. :) Wales and Ireland are my two dream countries to visit. :)

Don't wait Jon! Just plough into any Discworld book and enjoy the fun.

PS The North of England is quite nice too

Hello.
Thanks for the encouragement. :) As it stands, I'll read the books in publishing order, hope I didn't make a mistake there. If yes, please feel free to correct me. :)

Well, I have been planing a tour of the Britain and visiting all the countries, but have been on a bit lower budget, but hopefully it'll happen in some future years.

Cheers all. (unfortunately you haven't got a beer pints smiley, so just imagine it. :) )

Ok, I get it, there is a cheers smiley. :)

Anyway, I would like to ask you once again for your help.
I want to buy Discworld books and because of not so good financial situation I would buy used books.
Could you recommend me some reliable UK websites that sell used books and send outside UK(EU is fine)?
I checked some, but there are too many of them.
Avoiding Amazon would be nice. :)

Thanks in advance.

Thanks a lot Pip.
Unfortunately, the day I want to order the books with a free shipping, they change the shipping cost and I have to pay more than 3 euros for shipping. :(
Its not much, but I could have had 1 book more for it.
Well, probably will go with it anyway.
Once again, thanks. :)

Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask, but I am trying to remember which of the Discworld novels refers to a book of sayings. As I recall these were sayings common in English but given extra weight by being collected. Or am I imagining the whole thing?

This is exactly the right place to ask. :) And I would agree with Ghost's answer. Welcome to the site.

Thanks for the welcome and speedy replies. However, that was not the book of which I was thinking.

And I probably failed to word my question correctly, so here is a better framing of the question.

Unless I am just imagining this, within one of the Discworld novels, as part of the story, a character quotes from a collection of "old woman" sayings. The setting was Ankh-Morpork as I recall. These sayings are thought to be wise, although they often sound very simple. Ring any bells?

Since my wife and I "downsized" our life a few years ago I no longer have the books to hand or I would search myself. If I can find the title of the novel within which this collection-of-sayings is described I can buy it for my Kindle.

Thanks again...Zcobb
