First let me say that I just discovered your forum community and it's been a lot of fun reading through your posts. I look forward to joining in your discussions.

I'm working on a Moist Von Lipwig costume for an upcoming event, and one of the accessories I want to include is a stack of of Cabbage Growers Bank Bonds to hand out. I've managed to capture a few still-shots from the Going Postal movie, but none of the images give a good close up of the detail on them. I tried the google-image search for a good 45 minutes without any luck.

Can anyone here point me in the right direction of where I might find better pictures?

Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried The Mob Film Company who made the TV shows?

If anyone had them or knew where to get them, they'd be the people to contact I would think. I suspect there are a few of them floating around in "private" collections. These things have a habit of finding owners.

Good luck with your search and let us see your costume when it's done.

Thanks for the reference to Mob co. I sent them an email, but it does seem like a long shot for them to come through.

I found a great site that sells ankh morpork stamps (http://www.discworldemporium.com), so I'm all set in that department and I have sealing wax for the envelopes. I'm torn on whether to go for the Most Von Lipwig gold outfit with the brown vest...

...or go for his original attire of brown jacket and red vest.
.

Thoughts?

Some fans were extras in that movie. I'm not sure if our Admin, Jason was in that one - he was in the Colour of Magic. Some of the folks on the Cunning Artificer's forum were there though and I don't know if anyone got their mitts on the bonds. :)

All the costumes I've seen online have been copies of the gold outfit. I'd go for the brown jacket and red vest, just because it would be different. About the Cabbage Grower bonds: why not just assume that any tiny differences you make will prove they were the ones Moist made? Some of the ones from the film will be auctioned at the convention, according to the NADWCON site, but they haven't put any photos online.

Yes, I saw the NADWCON site too, but only half the items had pictures and the bonds weren't one of them. Since there aren't any good pictures floating around, I guess I can feel free to ad-lib ones of my own. (in true Moist style!)

I guess it will come down to whichever vest/jacket combo I'm able to find that looks the most authentic. If I find both, I think I'll go with the non-gold version.

So far, I was able to identify a fairly close hat, that I can modify to match the one in the film. I'll have to make significant modifications, but the basic shape and structure are the same. Now I just have to find a bird to donate the feathers for the wings...

Just getting random feathers out of a pillow probably wouldn't give the right effect. Maybe if you found a butcher that would sell you a pair of unplucked chicken wings (might have to buy the whole chicken), you could make a form of some kind and get the feathers in the correct positions.

Instead of trying to reproduce the actual bonds from the movie, I took the advice to just make up ones of my own. It took some effort to gather all the elements and learn how to use the "gimp" free photo editing software, but I think I have something that I can use. (The actual bonds I'll have printed out will have a gold foil seal on them in place of the seal you see in the image) I still have some tweaking to do, but, what do you think?

UPDATE!

I finally got around to mass producing the bonds to hand out at the upcoming comic-con.
First they got a nice bath in earl-grey for that old-world look.

Next they go into the oven at 210°F (98 °C) for 4 minutes to dry out and get a nice rumpled look.

Finally I add a gold foil seal and they are ready to go.

In line with my Moist Von Lipwig costume, I'll also be handing out letters with sets of stamps at the the event.

Adding the wax seal...

Emblazoning them with a gold crest...

Ready to deliver to the fine folks of Ankh Morpork!

That's a very professional looking job you have done on the notes and envelopes Malvern, any Discworld fan would be happy to get one. I think you may have just produced a much sought after item to be for Discworld fandom. Not mentioning any names on the forum though.
