No I think they just suffer from less than 10% of the budget

They are getting better though, Going Postal was pretty good.
Bah, budget aint an excuse. Colour of Magic had a bigger budget than Hogafather and it sucked. The acting was terrible, it is generally just a bad film, and it was a seriously bad advertisment for the Discworld series.
Hogfather was actually pretty good though imo. Very atmospheric, and believeable. Susan's lead role was a very good performance, it carried the film well. I thought Death was awesome also and Christopher Lee couldnt lace Ian's boots.
All the big names in COM were dreadfull, apart from James Cosmo, he was bloody great.

Thanks for the welcome everyone  I'm wary of getting dragged into this as I find forums can sometimes suck the pleasure out of things I enjoy.
I'm hoping the discussions will give me the motivation to start finishing more books, and I'm trying to throw myself back into the discworld after taking a long break of 8-10 years. I'm currently on The 5th Elephant and want to rattle through it as I'm more interested in the books following it. Keep getting distracted though...

 It's holiday season overload over here. People start celebrating Halloween as soon as October starts, then you also have Thanksgiving in November. The elections are coming up early next month and then there's Veterans Day - not to mention my birthday and Sharlene's all before Hogswatch.

Ah huh! So that is why American people say 'happy holidays'. It has nothing to do with the secularisation of Christmas but an effficient means of communication!

I work with somone who comes originally from Texas and every year he tells me in November that as it is Turkey day he shouldn't be at work at all - whenever that is.

Why pumpkins? What do they have to do with all Hallow's eve? And do DW fans dress up as DW characters over there?
