I've got to say, I'm glad Moffat has got away from that 'lonely God' business. I much prefer his 'man with the biggest gob in the universe' approach. :laugh:

Actually, to tell the truth, I'm more interested in Big Finish's 50th anniversary special, The Light at the End. Twice the length, twice the (surviving) Doctors (though they're bringing in new actors for the first three, believe it or not!), and possibly twice as good.

And it's available in three different editions. Two guesses as to which one I'm getting...
I'm with you Q on this one, the Big Finish story sounds very promising and I'm not convinced about The Day of The Doctor, as for which version you're getting, I'm guessing that it's one of the two versions I'm getting ;)

The limited edition? Yeah. Unfortunately, it's a Christmas present, so I'll probably have to wait until December to listen to it.

Which is a shame, as they have released it early. :)

I know the only way this fits into the thread in that I listened to it in 2013, but I just listened to Gareth Roberts' novelization of Shada* read by Lalla Ward (with John Leeson voicing K-9). Really good fun. :laugh:

* Douglas Adams's unfinished serial.

Spoiler below regarding an event late in the story:
What better punishment could there be for a villain who is getting sick of even hearing about the Doctor than being basically forced to watch Doctor Who for the rest of his life. :laugh:

Not only that, but Skagra in the novelisation is basically an obnoxious fanboy, rating almost everything on a 1-10 scale. :rolleyes: So it's a fitting end.

Seriously, Shada has to be one of the best novelisations of Doctor Who ever. And guess what, Jack Remillard? Apparently Gareth Roberts is doing City of Death for release next year!

The Science Of Doctor Who

Thursday 14 November
9.00-10.00pm
BBC TWO

For one night only, Professor Brian Cox explores the universe of the world’s favourite Timelord, Doctor Who.

Brian takes an audience, with the help of celebrity guests, on a journey into the wonderful universe of The Doctor, in a specially recorded programme from the lecture theatre of the Royal Institution of Great Britain.

Brian reveals the science behind the spectacle and explains the physics that allows Doctor Who to travel through space and time. Fun, but filled with real science, it’s a special night for Who fans as well anyone with a thirst for understanding.

Brian is in the unique position of knowing The Doctor’s universe inside out as well as the reality behind the drama. When the TARDIS travels through time and space, Brian understands the physics involved. And when it comes to life on other planets, Brian knows the real science that could prove extra-terrestrial life might just really exist in our galaxy.
