I actually bought a copy of the CD at Supanova. In fact, I was on the way home when I wondered, "Wouldn't it be funny if the CDs looked like LPs?" When I got home, I opened it up, and was delighted to see that Big Finish had actually done that. Fanfare for the Common Men is on the to-listen list. :)

I started watching a two hour long show called Doctor Who: The Ultimate Guide and gave up after twenty minutes.

Far from being the ultimate guide, it was just a series of sound bytes by various "famous" people (most of whom I didn't have a clue who they were). Complete and utter drivel for the easily amused and hard of thinking. :naughty:

What I am looking forward to is the documentary on BBC Radio 4 Extra on Saturday. I've heard parts of this already and it is much more what I want to know about. For example, an interview with the daughter of William Hartnell who talks about the letters that her father used to get and how he and his wife used to be sure to answer them all. And the fact that the BBC had originally meant it to be an educational show where they would go into the past to explore historical events and into the future to discuss new technology. The Daleks put paid to that. They were such a popular enemy that the public demanded more monsters and less education.

Yes, I didn't really expect to learn much new from that 'ultimate guide'. I watched a bit of it and yeah, lost interest quite quickly.

The radio documentary sounds interesting though. :)

I listened to the first two parts of the reading of Doctor Who and the Daleks on Radio 4 Extra earlier. Very good and brought back memories of hiding behind the sofa on a Saturday evening. William Hartnell's Doctor was such a grumpy old git.
I'm up to episode 8 of that. William Russell does the Dalek voices quite well even though he's not Nick Briggs.

You forgot Anneke Wills.

Apparently, Gatiss wanted to use Jean Marsh to play Sara Kingdom aging to death in a recreation of the climax of The Daleks' Master Plan, but the budget wouldn't run to it. Irony, really, considering she played the role all those years ago.
