Great episode. iplayer is really handy :) Beaing in mind our Australian contingent that's all I have to say. After all they still have to wait another week without SPOILERS
I CRACKED!!!! Well I was pushed..... We had Easter lunch with the family and the daughters new (well it has been a year) boyfriend was over and we played pictionary for ages and we couldn't be polite ONE minute more....... so we downloaded it!

Tried to copy it to disc... the rabbits sent me out at 10:30pm on a public holiday to find DVD discs!!!!!!! Still wouldn't play ... so we all crammed around the laptop and watched it on the coffee table....

AND 23 MINUTES IN IT FROZE!!!!!!!!!!!!! ARRRRRRRRRRRRGH!!!!!!!!!! The daughter and the b'f had to go home... so the teen and I searched for another two hours to find somewhere to download it.... YES!!!!! Finally at 2am we watched it!

Scarey scarey monsters...............

Monsters? What monsters?

HOW are they going to get around that nasty shock at the beginning of the episode?

Well, regarding the spoiler up above...

I heard a rumour that later in the series...

The Doctor gets a clone. Maybe it's the clone who gets killed. Or maybe it's the clone who survives. Who knows?

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Q!!!! Good idea! He did that with Rose didn't he? Well thats a bit of a cop out!

Except that the clone will be introduced in a later story, the one called The Rebel Flesh/The Almost People. That's the rumour I heard. It's nothing to do with the one left with Rose, AFAIK. The Rebel Flesh/The Almost People, I heard, is about clones. Again, these are rumours. I have no idea whether this is actually true.

Besides, it's not a cop-out if the original Doctor dies. In fact, it may just allow him a new set of regenerations.
I have to say, reading the synopsis for The Impossible Astronaut, that the series might be back on form after the rather average series 5. :)

Just watched the first episode of the new series, The Impossible Astronaut. It's good and promising, but not as scary as I thought it was going to be. I think the Silence creatures are not scary as much as intellectually disturbing. After all, you only remember them when you see them.

BTW, the Oblong Office is not the only relation to Discworld this episode has. I don't know whether anyone has pointed it out in this thread already (I'm not trawling through the pages to find out), but the Silent in the episode is played by Marnix van den Broeke, aka the body of Death in Hogfather and The Colour of Magic, and the body of Mr Pump in Going Postal.

yes all very cryptic and strange and no doubt we are all meant to be coming up with various theories about who is in the spaceman suit, is it River? Is it Amy's child, but what I want to know, what REALLY confused me is why was there an info dump at the beginning? It's rather insulting really.

Oh, it was on the American and Australian version of the episode, Amy recapping her background with the Doctor just before the titles.
