Just simply what it says in the title. Sir Terry had used plenty of names for places, people, and objects and I was wondering if any of them has stood out, or had any significance, for you?

My particular favourite is "You Bastard" which neatly encapsulated my opinion and experience of nearly all camels that I have encountered.

Hodgesaargh is probably my very favourite name but it's a tough call.

Legitimate First is a stand out for me as well.

Bestiality Carter is a favourite. I also like the way the other Morris dancer's names are Baker the Weaver, Weaver the Thatcher, Thatcher the Carter but Tinker is a Tinker. So good.

I did a quiz on it elsewhere.

The following list consists of the occupations of various folk in Lancre. Can you put a character name to the occupations?

Baker
Butler
Tinker
Thatcher
Tailor
Hunter
Carter
Beekeeper
Maid
Storekeeper
Cook
Falconer
Weaver
Weaver

Answers:

Baker - Carter
Butler - Mr. Spriggins
Tinker - Tinker
Thatcher - Weaver
Tailor - Carpenter
Hunter - William Scrope
Carter - Thatcher
Beekeeper - Mr. Brooks
Maid - Millie Chillum
Storekeeper - Mr. Quarney
Cook - Mrs. Scorbic
Falconer - Hodgesaargh
Weaver - Baker
Weaver - Tailor (the other weaver)

Bestiality Carter.

I loved the whole idea behind the naming.

this is one of my faves too, especially because it starts with something that people do: theme name their children, and then terry takes it that one (or two) steps further.

Windle Poons - because it trips so nicely off the tongue.
Lupin Wonse - for similar reasons.
A.E. Pessimal - the idea of initials in place of a name amuses me.
and finally, Magrat - because I come from a family with a woman named Debron in it, on account of my Uncle being hard to understand at the best of times*, as well as roaring drunk when he visited the registrar.

* He's one of that curious species of, now elderly, fellow; the ones who speak at what seems to be 75 words-per-minute, primarily in a series of clicks, grunts, whistle and questioning looks. On the rare occasions they achieve clarity of sound, they turn out to be using some bizarre metaphor, figure of speech or proverb which you've never heard before. Imagine The Fast Show's Rowley Birkin Q.C., but with a broad Northumbrian accent. They don't make them like that any more.

Cohen the Barbarian is a big favourite of mine.
Also like Nobby Nobbs and if i ever got a cat(not likely, sadly allergic) it would very likely be named Greebo.
Dangerous Beans,Hamnpork(the way the The Clan gets their names is quite nice of course  ) and the phrase "hwuntwothreefour"...will forever conjure up an image of an tapdancing mouse named Sardines, top hat and cane included of course.
(Or something very similar, did't have time to look it up.
Edit little later : Nagged me as being wrong so did still look it up and corrected accordingly :geek: .)
