As posted in my prior message, attached please see the signatures written in the books. Please provide an opinion as to if they appear geniune.

Please note that I did not have this books signed myself, only coincidence that we share the same first name.

Thank you,

David

But his handwriting looks spot on, and the scythe matches the one Tony showed. I think it's genuine (although I've never seen a signature as fancy as that one).

I wish I had some earlier signatures to compare. These are (if genuine) early ones I think. The later ones I posted are almost a shorthand of the earlier ones. If you are signing hundreds or thousands of books, your signature is not going to stay identical and if these are genuine, they are rather more complex than the later ones.

It's possible that Colin Smythe, Terry's agent, may be able to give you a definitive answer. Personally,I'm inclined to think they are genuine - but who knows? :)

Thank you all for your quick replies.

Doing a little happy dance right now  . It's nice to find a "diamond in the rough" if you will every once in a while.

None of my paperbacks are signed, but the 3 hardbacks are.
I've thumbed the paperbacks so much that I would have rubbed off any signature anyway, so I'll stick to getting unsigned copies!

Getting books signed is just a nice way to meet Terry. But if you come across a rare book, getting it signed will boost the price considerably.

Yes, but in that case you don't want a personal dedication. "To Fred from Terry Pratchett" will be less saleable than just Terry's signature (unless the buyer's name happens to be Fred). ;)

I remember Terry once asking someone who wanted a book signed, if he should make it out to 'Dear eBay customer'.
