Yes, but in that case you don't want a personal dedication. "To Fred from Terry Pratchett" will be less saleable than just Terry's signature (unless the buyer's name happens to be Fred).

Very true, I do have a couple of dedicated books but I try to avoid it unless for specific occasions.

The exception is of course presentation copies. So a book signed for example to Ian Stewart from Terry as a gift would be a lot more valuable
