They had an answer to amazon, lower their prices. thats what competition is for. but no, they'd rather keep their mark up.
shame this seems to be the direction of things. the gaming industry has been on fixed pricing for years, and now the tv set industry is following suit.
to me, it makes no sense. if everywhere you go everything is the same price, how does that help competition? then places like Wal-mart will dominate even more then they already do because people are lazy and will choose to do all their shopping in one place.
The ONLY way, i can see this helping, AT ALL, is if along with the retailers having set prices, the publishers/distributors/etc do to. so no retailer can get a discount. IE a big retailer won't be able to get the jump on a little independant by being able to get a discounted price because they can afford to buy more product at one time. thats part of the problem and what helps kill small businesses by not letting them compete.
