I did that with Startrek once.
I was in a feeding hospital with my baby who wouldn't feed at all and I sat through mindless hours of soaps and Oprah and twaddle all week in the common room... I was so damned mind dead in that room I actually used to go out and weed the garden...they thought it was good for relaxing but noooooooo I just couldn't sit through all that rubbish.
I was so damned nice... supporting them when they got teary, nursing thier babies when they needed a break, sociable even.
ANd then ONE night.... I turned the TV over to Startrek. There were groans and complaints and then someone made a move to change the channel.....
I made a furious dash towards the TV, stood in front of it and shot an evil evil glare around the room..... "ITS STARTREK! I have endured your rubbish for a whole damned WEEK! I want ONE HOUR of TV!!!! My baby is asleep and STARTREK IS ON!!!! I am not turning off STARTREK!!!! "
They let me watch Startrek... in fact they all left the room. They sent in a nice nurse too. I explained very quietly to her that I would talk to her when Startrek finished.
They had a chat to me about "postnatal depression and stress with a baby that wouldn't feed"..... NOPE! I was just fine as soon as Startrek was finished, and I was.
