If the Ankh-Morpork characters were one of those Dunmanifestin gods' games, who would be what?

I think I would arrange them as:

King - Lord Vetinari
Queen - Lady Margolotta
Bishop #1 - Commander Vimes
Bishop #2 - Aunt Bobbie
Knight #1 - Moist
Knight #2 - Captain Carrot
Rook #1 - Drumknott
Rook #2 - William
Pawn #1 - Lord Downey
Pawn #2 - Leonard da Quirm
Pawn #3 - Lord Rust
Pawn #4 - Archchancellor Ridcully
Pawn #5 - Mr Slant
Pawn #6 - Mr Boggis
Pawn #7 - Random dwarf
Pawn #8 - Random troll

What a fun game! How would you guys do it?
Then there's the other side, with a villains gallery. I guess it would all be foreigners and creepy supernaturals like Auditors and evil werewolves.

 OK - easy ones 1st. No need to be random with the Dwarf and Troll pawns - how's Cheery and Detritus sound? 8)

Not at all happy with the Queen as this is definitely an Ankh Morpork set - Margalotta may be the nearest Vetinari has to a significant other (although I have deep suspicions about his 'Aunty' ;) ) but she's in Uberwald and anyway isn't in the books too much as an active participant aside from Fifth Elephant.

What about Susan? She's working in A-M most of the time these days and she's certainly the smartest female aside from Granny and Nanny in Terry's leading character lists.

Why's Rincewind not in there? He's a pawn if ever there was one! Take Mustrum out and put Rinso in there for UU and I think you're about there  :

Good ideas for a Ankh Morpork set - how about a Lancre set for the other side

King - Verence
Queen - Magrat
Bishops - Granny and Nanny
Knights - Jason and Shawn Ogg
Rooks - The Dancers and the uncountable stone on the moor

It would be very cool if someone made a lifesize A-M chess set, just like that room in the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone movie.

Yeah, I was a bit iffy about choice of Queen, because it the books don't really mention much about Vetinari's love life. (Sadly. :()
But the books mentioned him clacks-chatting with her all the time, and playing semaphore-Thud!, so I just stuck her in.

Susan would be a good Queen, probably. :) Since she's met Lobsang, she can move in all sorts of cool directions, like through time.

Right before I saw this thread I was thinking about how cool it would be if someone created a DW-based pinball machine. I even started sketching some rough layouts

Of course, this could only be done in Britain, since there'd be no market for it stateside, especially since it wouldn't be based on a subpar action movie.

I believe that people used the Clarecraft pewter figures as chess pieces. Presumably you could do the same with the new figures, which are a little smaller and would probably work very well.

There's a picture of a Discworld chess set HERE. You'll need to enlarge the picture to get an idea - it looks to me as if they are using The Luggage as pawns.

My 'adopted-daughter/lodger' is one of those crafty people who is never without a string of projects; music/sculpting/knitting/jewellrey-making/de-ya-de-ya-de-yada...

She's best part through making her own chess set of Lancre v A-M and has another planned. If I can get her to sort out the technicalities I'll post a photo. At the moment she's been side-tracked into designing a turtle-shaped chessboard.
