As the post says ....

I first tried Terry Pratchett when I was about 10 .... Diggers I think.... and just couldnt get going. Probably too young.

Then I tried again ... think it was late teens early 20's .... think it was Wyrd Sisters....again I didnt like it and couldnt finish.

Got a Kindle for my 30th Birthday though and thought I would try again so after a bit of research (kudos to this forum and others) I downloaded Gaurds ! Guards ! ...... ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT !!!

Read in a week and am now reading Men at Arms and plan to go through all the Watch series first before moving on to Witches . Dunno what made the difference (age, the book, bit of both ?) but i'm now so delighted to have this huge series to work through . Just wanted to share my experience. cheers guys

Well as I've often said: Guards! Guards! is a very good place to start as you are introduced to the city of Ankh-Morpork through the eyes of someone (Carrot) new to it himself.

Welcome to the site, MUSSBELLO!

If you are there you will definitely meet him. Most likely in the bar

Last year I went to watch the Museum of Curiosities being recorded with Sir Terry being one of the panelists. Before the show commenced, I met Rob (his PA) and was invited to stay on afterwards for a drink at the bar with them and a few of Sir Terry's guests and friends. Regretably, I had a train to catch and they seemed a tad delayed post-recording and I missed him. :( I would still like to meet up and thank Rob, in person, again for the ticket to see the program and for a great night out. Hopefully I'll get the chance at next year's convention. (BTW, although I only met Rob for a couple of minutes, he seemed a genuinely nice bloke)
