A bit of a glut of deaths today :( Ian Paisley is of course receiving all the attention on the news here but also along with Sir Donald Sinden, John Bardon has died, a British character actor who appeared in numerous TV programmes from Dads Army to Eastenders.

A sad day, no matter what anyone may have thought of Paisley he was a major political figure through my entire lifetime and without him I doubt the peace settlement would actually have happened as he was willing to go against his own party to sign up to the agreement.

RIP all three :(

Just read about Ian Paisley and hope, most sincerely, that he also rests in peace. As Mad says, Rev Paisley was a force to be reckoned with and a major influence on the NI peace settlement. I have many Irish friends and they are all saying something similar, 'I may not have agreed with his views but he did a lot of good for his constituency and Northern Ireland'.
He also had the distinction of being one of the loudest politicians of all time. RIP.
