Just read on the POV forums that when the BBC announced Paul D's death, they made reference to his "much younger wife", that they "seemed" happy, and showed the Mrs Merton clip.

Now, the Mrs Merton gag was very funny, but surely highly unsuitable at this time?

The BBC really have no idea, have they?

And to cap it all, Kay Burley (Sky, I think) posted on Twitter her sadness at the death of Malcolm Muggeridge, complete with picture, when she meant Cliff Michelmore.

Malcolm Muggeridge died 26 years ago.

Nasty, inappropriate and downright incompetent!

RIP Paul. He was, at least back in the 70s, a genuinely nice man. He was shopping in the department store I worked in then - probably just after he started to make it big. One of the women in my department said to him that he reminded her of the guy on TV who says: "You're going to like this . . . not a lot, but you'll like it". He came back by saying: "I know the bloke you mean, but he says it like this:" and did his catchphrase. It's sad the way the media boosts people up to fame, only to then try and knock them down again.

Just seen this on twitter:https://twitter.com/MrsStephenFry Mrs Stephen Fry ‏@MrsStephenFry 3h3 hours ago, He deleted his account after the HOHA after the remark about the bag lady ater the Bafta's awards show ???

The mourners are going to feel terribly foolish when the coffin turns out to be empty and Paul Daniels appears at the back of the room.
