You can look inside Raising Steam and read the first 48 pages:

http://rhwidget.randomhouse.co.uk/flash ... wsletter=1

There is a nice map of Sto Plains.
That link seems to be disabled now, as of this morning. Or maybe i should have read it last night instead of leaving it for lunch today! Anyway if won't open anywhere I can find it, even on the Random House page.

Talk about being stopped right on the edge!

There are 16 pages readable on the Amazon page.

Hopefully we'll get it on Friday to help us through the next mum in law weekend ... :shifty:

I’m getting a ‘Load Error’ but the web page is there and does start to open with images of the book pages across the top – it just won’t let you open them to view.

They’ve either got a technical problem or too many people are trying to read at once so just keep trying.

I know it doesn't help TheAnts but I'm glad Jussi pointed out this link as it made up for the disappointing Facebook promotion.

OK both thanks. I wondered if it recognises the computer ID and wont' let you open it more than once or more than a certain time. it opens but as Jak says, you can't read any of the pages.

I read the Amazon look inside, so I know that something goes bang :) (I don't think that's a spoiler in a Discworld novel?)

This is probably a fairer representation of the alternate cover

I'll still stick with the standard edition though.
Am I being thick or has this vanished from the waterstones site?

Ordered book received from Waterstones – it has the railway carriage cover I mentioned, as do all the ones on their shelves which are now only £4 off. As stated before the goblin and head are just cut and pastes from the original cover painting, including the glare from the fire! Fortunately is doesn’t have that appalling photo of PTerry in the other window as shown on the slip box cover above. PTerry is included on the version printed on the back cover and the goblin is covered by an image of the travel ticket, which is taken from the free bookmark. A redeeming feature is that the actual book hardback covers have the original cover painting printed on them, in reverse on the back, without any title or other overprinting.

Back & front of the Waterstones bookmark, different cover and the slipcase edition is sold out, and the WHSmiths edition has an extra short story at the back same as the standard cover makes it four different editions, expensive for the completist's.

I took the bookmark out and photographed it today in the shop.

Okay, finished reading it. Here's my review, as posted on another BBS...

More about it later...
This would be better in the Raising Steam review pages where people would expect to see spoilers
Done. Edited my original post, too...
