Rats?

Mice and rats are cute are they??????????????????? 
I went through THIS when I was about ten. Mum and Dad would seal us into our beds in nets to let us sleep and every day Mum would resew the holes they had nibbled in the nets that night. Once me and my friend ran out of a wheat warehouse and landed knee deep in half dead squirming mice. I HATE MICE AND RATS.
When you get mice then you get rats then you get snakes....
We have a rat plague here now across the city (because of the floods) and with the cold weather they are all trying to find somewhere warm (like houses).
They spread disease, they chew through wires and wood and plastic (love electrical wires). They will eat the wires out of your car engine.
I love Death of Rats in the DW series..... but in real life I love dead rats.

We have wild rats here, they were living here in the hedge banks & fields long before our houses were built. We tolerate them, but if they get too numerous (more than 4) we do deal with them. I often see one or two in the garden, they never try to get in the house.
Tame rats make lovely pets, far better than Hamsters who bite. Our rats never bit anyone & they are clean animals, don't smell if their cages are cleaned regularly & love being with their people. My Son would have them as pets again, if he didn't get so upset when they only lived a couple of years. We had 4, 2x2, at different times. All females.
Not sure I'd like that many around though Penfold.

Yeah, I know of it. A former employer was going to send me to India and I was all like: Must . go . see! But sadly, went bankrupt before it came to that ;_; (But in all honesty, I don't know exactly how I'd reacted there - would do the thing most people do (shudder and curse) or attempt to kidnap a couple of them? @Tiff: Ah, the sad and short lifespan of those tame buggers. Atm it seems life expectancy is going up for the line I hold, so 2.5 years is more common, but still short ;_; Btw ever tried males? Higher risk of biters (if you get from a non-caring breeder), but it can be helped if you get a vet to remove the two bragging items... But males are so much more relaxed
He was only offered female rats, Ragdoll. He rescued them, though the first two were babies when he got them.
I was a bit wary at first, but I grew to love them, they had personalities. The only thing I never got used to was their bald tails. I think more people would like rats if they had furry tails.

Heheh, yeah, and some of them got huge personalities. Had a girl who managed to pee from the cage and out on the floor then flicked her tail like you would snap your fingers - just because I had told her 'NO' to showeling most of the cage bedding out of said cage.
And (to try and bring back on topic) is why I'd like to know more about TP's interest in those rats as I think he catches something just right about them (seen from tame rats view)
So if any of you hear/see/get the oppotunity - bring forth the knowledge
