This is because of talking about Star Wars on another thread.

What characters in movies do you find really annoying?

Jar Jar Binks has got to be top of anyone's list. But Anakin was a close second.

Oh and Harry Ellis from Die Hard! He's right up there with annoying characters. I always love the bit where he gets killed.

Who annoys you? I'm talking characters rather than actors. ;)

Oh, come on! Jar Jar's kind of cute ;)

I've always found Frodo quite annoying... I mean the Elijah Wood version

Probably on top of the list for me would be nurse Ratched in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, now there was someone to get really worked up about.

Also i have to say Sean Astin in a certain tv-adaptation annoyed me no end, simply because he was just too different from my imagined Twoflower. ;)
(His 'actingabilities' might have had something to do with it,David Jason as Rincewind wasn't exactly what i envisioned either, but he at least is such a good actor i could quickly forgive that.)
In the same category any character played by Angela Lansbury automatically becomes extremely annoying.
For a start Jessica Fletcher has got to be the most annying womancharacter on television surely?

I can't think of any movie characters offhand, but there's quite a few literary and television ones that I'd like to throttle. Harold Skimpole from Bleak House is one. William Dorrit and his daughter Fanny from Little Dorrit are more. So too is the shrill, annoying, and extremely self-centred (despite her claiming otherwise) Mrs Bennett from Pride and Prejudice. And I suppose Joffrey Baratheon from A Song of Ice and Fire (or Game of Thrones, if you're only familiar with the TV series).

I never got the hatred for Jar Jar. i always liked him, and loved the fact his role, while smaller, became more important later. if only to piss off the haters

Now Ellis on the other hand....

Dr Rodney McKay in Stargate SG1 always annoyed me. surprising he became likable in atlantis.

I liked Jar Jar,but I did last see the movie years ago. o_O
Annoying to me was Bella from twilight and Frodo.
Can't think of anyone else offhand right now,but I'm sure there were more.

Jar Jar was in it to appeal to the kids. But the grown-up fans forget that they saw it when they were kids. Actually, Leia was a bit annoying at first, she could have been more polite!

I don't like it when a male lead has a really unsupportive wife, who doesn't believe her husband to the point where she will even leave him to back to her mother's. If Mr Dotsie told me God had told him to build an Ark, I'd put the kettle on immediately!

Every goddamn wisecracking sidekick- doesn't matter where.
I find Harry Potter (the character, played by Radcliffe) really annoying, especially in the later movies (and books too).

Basically, any movie character played by the following:

Adam Sandler
David Spade
Rob Schneider
Pauli Shore
The actresses from Cagney and Lacey
Tim Allen (except for Buzz Lightyear)

But if I had to choose the most annoying film character of all time, I'd have to say it was Anna Paquin's irritating little brat in "The Piano." But now that's doing nude scenes in "True Blood" is all is forgiven.

I David Spade was OK in 8 Simple Rules. I like about half of Adam Sandler's films, but what I really hate is his target demographic...same with Rob Schneider.

And sue me, I like Tim Allen in Home Improvement :)

David Spade was OK in 8 Simple Rules, and he's quite good in Rules of Engagement.

I like Tim Allen and the girls from Cagney & Lacey, but I run a mile from anything with Adam Sandler or Ben Stiller in it.
