Hi guys,

Just finished Reaper Man and it has been a great first taste of the Disc-world series. I have just ordered The Colour of Magic and cant wait to begin it.

But i was just wondering, what did you think of Reaper Man? I personally thought it was a great, invigorating and some parts, sad book :).

Hope to hear from you soon,

Heartsfan2

Reaper man is still one of my favourite books both of DW and in general. Its funny and also show a fantastic side of death. Its a great book to start with .
Some amount of genius and imagination within the pages

Death still remains my favourite character
Have a picture of him playing the guitar signed by Terry on the wall of my spare bedroom

Actually belongs to the missus but hey

You'll find colour of magic a bit different to reaper man but its still a good book. I found the DW books got better after the first few (i know a few of the hardcore will shout me down for this) so after reading CoM and then the light fantastic you'll have great fun working through the series. The Death Books are all fantastic.

Hearts, you don't need to open a thread each time you start/reading a book. As eciting as it is to read them, you're wasting time typing you could use to read more.

I still think it's a fun read Pip and Pterry did say if he had to write it again it would be different, but I like it for what it is a piss take out of the fantasy genre and the stereotypes that were about when it was written. :)

I agree - I think Mort was the first of the books where he really got into his stride, although Equal Rites has a special place in my heart for introducing Granny Weatherwax.

I love Reaper Man.

While Reaper Man is no longer my absolute favourite in the Discworld series, having been surpassed by Small Gods and Hogfather, it was my favourite Discworld book for a very long time. Death learning what it was like to be mortal, and human, was enjoyable. So was the subplot about Windle Poons.

I loved the Death and Susan parts of the book.

Hated the whole B story about the monster mall. Very tedious.
Susan's not in it.

Hate to agree with the J-I*b, but I thought the mall bit was pants too. :p

Mind you, I remembered that Susan wasn't in it.

Not going to disagree as i still like the books and find them very funny but just don't think they are as good as many others in the series (except pyramids which sucks ;) )
