Short stories?

Does anyone have a copy of a discworld short story they would be willing to lend or sell to me? I can't find a copy of any of them anywhere. If they are available free, can someone tell me where?

Some of them are officially available online, such as:

Death and What Comes Next.
Theatre of Cruelty

There are others online, but not necessarily legally - be careful if you intend going to sites you are unsure of.

The best source is Once More With Footnotes but as that book is notoriously difficult to find and expensive when you do then looking for second hand copies of the original books is probably easier and definitely cheaper

Keep meaning to ask this but forget, does anyone have a description or picture of the book of FootnotesFootnotes? Particularly the spine. Just in case i am lucky enough to spot it in a charity shop, so I can easily identify it from the shelf. I know what the cover looks like but is it big or small, hardback or paperback?

Cheers Tony! I could never tell from amazon and ebay the size of the book. I know my chances of finding the book are slim! On the spine does that just say Terry Pratchett?

Probably sold, yes, but I reckon council rates go towards pay. I mean, council rates have got to pay for something useful, it might as well be library staff...

Actually, I'll go and look at the library bookshop tomorrow. Maybe they might have it there still.

Mad - is that an actual first edition of Colour of Magic, or is it the facsimile?

If it's the real first, you've got a few quid's worth of books there.

Don't reckon it's the real one coz I'm pretty sure Mad said he had it, but kept it in a safety box (or something like that).

It is an actual first in the facsimile dustwrapper. The original dustwrapper is so damaged and fragile I don't leave it on the book and as the facsimile came with two dustwrappers I had a spare . The Light Fantastic is the facsimile.

That is where it normally lives but I've had it here for a couple of weeks now as I am changing banks and haven't had a chance to take it to the new one yet. My insurers don't know it's here so I had better get rid of it soon

Q... doesn't your library do bookings for books online or automatically. Ours do here in Queensland. Over the phone is usually easiest. And they send you a text when it is in the nearest library to you ready to be picked up.

It's a limited edition collection of Terry's short stories. It's very expensive though.

Once More* With Footnotes


Once More* With Footnotes is a book by Terry Pratchett, published by NESFA Press in 2004 when he was the Guest of Honor for Noreascon Four, the 62nd World Science Fiction Convention. It contains a mixture of short stories, articles, introductions to other books, and speeches, including his first published short story, "The Hades Business".

The initial run is a limited edition hardback, consisting of 2,500 copies. It had two additional printings in hardback and is currently out of print. The book has a notable discrepancy: the front cover gives the title with two asterisks (the result of the cover design.) The title page has no asterisks, the press release [1] and the Publisher's product page [2] have one asterisk.

The title is a reference to the phrase "once more, with feeling" and to Pratchett's frequent use of footnotes in his Discworld series, along with the brief author commentary at the start of each piece; the book itself actually contains very few footnotes. One of NESFA's working titles for the book was "Oh Bugger, by Wossname".[1]
