Well I'm a little bit slightly stumped at the minute.

My beautiful charity shop was selling Pratchett 1st's for 2 quid a pop so soon happily cleared the shelves... However some of these hardbacks are smaller than the original sizing and have bar codes which start with eight 0's with a CN number above them on the back (i.e. Men at Arms is CN 6731). Alas anyone know anything about these?

As far as I'm aware they're UK editons. Inside on the copyright page they all go a little something like the Men at Arms :

This edition published 1994
by BCA
by arrangement with Victor Gollancz
first reprint

(etc)

CN 6731

Printed and bound in Great Britain by
Mackays pf Chatham PLC, Chatham, Kent

Hey thanks for the welcoming... Well I hope it's not the only time, I've only just seen the light on here. Will soon be bookmarked so don't you worry... or maybe you should I'm not too sure :)

Welcome, litup!

I've got a couple of those smaller sized BCA editions. If all you want to do is read the book, then they're just fine and at that price a real bargain.

Yeah, think the volunteers eyes may have watered slightly at the pile... mine are slightly as the others have to go on Ebay... curse my Mother paying for them so there's no way out. Plus side I'm seeing is four new books to read so it doesn't seem so damning.
