Snuff was already on sale in my local Tesco branch as of around 8pm today. I don't want to give the name of the branch (I can update tomorrow if anyone's interested) as I don't want to garner them any sales, but I'm hoping by putting this out there it might be brought to the attention of the right people. While it would be great to have the new book a day early I can't help thinking this isn't fair to all the booksellers out there who are playing by the rules!

PS I can tell you that it took all of my willpower to not read the first page at least!

Welcome to the site, LittleLou!

Tesco have done this before.

My local branch put 'A Hat Full of Sky' on the shelves a whole two weeks before they should have. I managed to grab a copy before anyone noticed.

On the message board I was then posting on, one of the members had a book store in America and she had a proof copy. The two of us were the only two people on that board who had read it and so we started to write to each other about the book. A couple of years later we got married. ;)

I don't know whether to thank Terry or Tescos for that.

Hellooo and welcome to the forum LittleLou and thanks for the info.

Unfortunately, nearly all the small independent book shops around here have already gone out of business, especially with the rise of the big chain store sellers like Waterstones. The same thing has happened to nearly all the second hand bookshops as well (with the exception of the charity shops). I think there is only one of them left in Worthing now. :(
