Went into Waterstones today to get my copy of the slipcase edition to be told they have been withdrawn?
They said the extras had not been included and they will re issue the book next week.

Anyone else heard about this or know what is going on?

Thanks
Tony

Hi Tony, welcome to the site!

I know some people here have got the slipcase copy, but didn't think there was a problem.

The girl in the shop was not very clear what the extras were, I have the other previous slip case editions and there were no extras in those.
I have left my name and number for when (if) they come back in, I will let you know what happens.

The 3 page short story is missing the pages are blank.

Okay this question may seem out of place here but people are saying the blue cover is the slipcase one does that mean the gold one is the ordinary one ?
Because this is my cover

In the Uk we have 3 versions (not including the Kindle version)

Version one: standard hardback (blue cover)

Version two: exclusive gold edition with short story in it

Version three: slipcase in blue as the normal but presented in a slipcase without short story.

Which is going to be rectified by having the short story put back in, confirmed by email to me from Waterstones.

news from Transworld

I spoke to Transworld today and it seems that the short story is only included in the waterstones only gold edition. The element missing from the slipcase edition is in fact a stamp and signature of Terry's.
They are in the process of setting up a hotline for collectors to contact and arrange for there copies to be sent off stamped with the relevant artistry and returned to them thus ensuring that the low numbered editions are sent back to there rightfull owners. It does smack of a rush job to me though.
The only difference between the gold edition and slipcase being a short story in one and gold dust jacket and a slipcase and signature (stamped not personally signed) on the other. Does this justify the £12 price difference i ask myself. Contact local Waterstones for updates on this hotline.
In the meantime i'm buying another slipcase with the signature in place. They have effectively created a stupidly collectable slipcase as the unsigned ones should never have come into existence.

Take the book back to the shop for a refund and they will let me know when the replacement is ready, but the shop says if I want to hang onto it and just swap it over they will phone me when it's in.

Just had a phone call from waterstones and was given a phone number to call, so Transworld can send me a prepaid box to return my book for them to put in a stamp etc on the blank pages in place of a reprinted edition, as I have already bought it which is going to make it a sought edition for completest collectors who must have everything.

Right need to get my head round this.

I have 1 gold limited edition sleeve. This one has the extra chapter.

I also have 2 slipcases versions, both do not have a stamp in them or signature or the extra chapters?

Talk about confusing.....

How many are there out there??

I think all the Waterstones slipcase editions have the short story missing due to an error/oversight and it would be too costly to have them reprinted, so they are recalling them to put in some extra's the stamp and free Discworld cut out book.

I'm thinking there would have been the story included, else why all the blank pages which would just add to the printing costs, if they reprinted them they might not have all sold and leading to a loss of revenue on both editions. :)
Making their limited edition not so limited, so I would suggest go on to the website get the number to phone if you want your slipcase editions upgraded. ;)

Just to give life to an old post. The slipcase I bought had the missing short story in but no stamp. Waterstones' dear lady of Pratchett Fandom gave me a ring and sorted it so that I'd get the book sent off signed stamped and a ISWM signed print and the cut out book added with the slipcase to say many sorry's for the inconvenience. Nice low number as well so I was happy. No idea what is inside now as it was re-sealed. Did they stamp and hologram it? Cant see them getting Sir Terry to sign them all!!
