Just finished it--unfortunately! It was great, but I'll say no more. Oh, wait, except for this: he really satisfies you with showing you lots of favorite characters.

Kindletastic

I got this on my Kindle nice 'n early :)

Only read a few pages so far as currently wading through the final George R R Martin book, My initial impression so far though is 'yay.....It's full of awesomely recognisable Pratchettness'. Excited :)

Anyhoo, to wade into the big 'To Kindle or not to Kindle' debate (which I've more than likely missed on here.....) I've got one (OBVIOUSLY!) and I absolutely love it. That's an understatement....I'm in love with it...

I was (and still am) an avid book lover - that is the whole thing...the feel, the paper, the smell, the whole 'holding it in my hand' book thing....and I didn't think I would ever replace it....but after a month or so with a Kindle, I'm afraid I'm totally hooked!

The best thing about it, even better than being able to carry hundreds of books everywhere, is the screen does not tire my eyes out like paper books have started too....I can read for hours and no more eye strain, no more tiredness...look I'm 38, getting on a bit now ;)

It sits easy in the hand everywhere, no more resting heavy tomes on my poor wife's back in bed.... and it encourages me to read, read, read, read.......I've whistled through books I've had on my shelf for years that I've not got round to because the sheer bulk of them leaves you wishing for more time....I've got used to reading books by percentage not page number and I just fly through them now. It's become a continual companion, it goes everywhere with me and I can read anywhere, anytime :)

I know it's a traditionalist thing...and I'll still buy books I want to 'own' in real paper (but this time I'll finally allow my mum to buy me the new Pratchett for Christmas rather than me buying in October...as I already have it on Kindle!).

But seriously, Kindle doubters should just try one for a few hours and you'll see it, you'll really see the value....

......Now if only it smelled like paper..... :)

Finally. Another supporter. I thought I was the only one!

My mate was an avid "I prefer real books" person, but was persuaded to get a Kindle for her birthday in May.

Within 2 hours she'd rung me up and said "Did you know there were games on this thing?".

I didn't!! Only simple games like Battleships or Noughts/Crosses.

She's now hooked.

Went abroad for nearly the whole of June and was thrilled to be able to download the daily papers instead of paying a fortune for the paper copy.

Her partner now wants one, and she has a hard time getting it out of his hot little hands!!

Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiya

I was going to avoid the forum until after I'd read Snuff, but a bit too excited!

PS Passed my driving test, on the 6th attempt!
Same here just got the book today and I was going to read it before coming onto here, but I had to read what people were saying about it first.

Oh and well done Beautiful Dirt for passing your driving test.
