As far as I know they use use a digital pen on a slate of sorts, and at the other end the book is placed under another pen and as the author writes with the 1st pen it moves across the book copying the signature on to the paper, but I have never seen it done just either photo or a short vid don't think it caught on that much.

If it's anything like the result I get from the electronic signature thingy when I sign for deliveries, I'm not surprised it didn't catch on.

I stopped getting my books signed, the silly sod kept writing little messages in them. Usually a joke or some other little quip.

I've got one somewhere without a signature that says "this book left intentionally unsigned by the author"

In fact after a year or so, I got embarrassed to ask as the queues of people with their books were getting far too long

The unsigned might be for a reason. I have a first print run of dork towers comic issue 15 signed by the author/artist of which there are less unsigned copies than there are signed! Basically the printer broke during the first print run so it needed up being a very limited run and they were being sold at dragoncon where kovalic was a guest!

So is it unlikely to get your books signed by Mr. Pratchett at conventions? Also des he only sign new books at books signings? Like Raising Steam will only get signed at his next book signing.
Is there many fake signatures online? Actually are far signatures that common online for any authors?
Geez look at me with all the questions and I'm only in the door.

He's just about physically unable to do signings now and just about the only way to get signed copies is by buying new books from PJSM Prints.

That's not to say that if you met him, he wouldn't sign something - it's just getting more unlikely. :|

Thanks and as said above, it's very sad indeed.
