Can anyone please tell me if the flag of Ankh Morpork is ever described? I know it's mentioned in Night Watch, but I don't recall a description of it.

I also know that various designs, purporting to be the AM flag, are available online, but I have no idea how authentic they are.

Thank you.

Um I think it is explained if not drawn in Feet of Clay. Probably wrong but you never know. There might be one on the Paul Kidby site.
Thank you, I must have a flip through Feet of Clay, then.

The coat of arms, yes, but not the flag. The two are quite different, and the former appears to change with each new Patrician, as it currently includes the black of the Vetinari family, which it presumably did not under Winder or Snapcase, whereas one would expect the flag to remain the same.

I think Sjoerd means that it was the coat of arms that was explained in Feet of Clay, rather than the flag, to save you searching for it.

If it's described anywhere, I would think it would be Jingo, although I think that the regiments all had different flags.

Thank you Dotsie, that's what I meant :)

From The Fifth Elephant

Lady Sybil: I'll tell Willikins to pack winter clothes. It'll be pretty cold up there at this time of year. Sam Vimes: Yes. That's a good idea. Lady Sybil: We'll have to host a party ourselves, I expect, so we ought to take a cartload of typical Ankh-Morpork food. Show the flag, you know. Do you think I should take a cook along? Sam Vimes: Yes dear. That would be a good idea. No one outside the city knows how to make a knuckle sandwich properly. Lady Sybil: Do you think we ought to take the alligator with us? Sam Vimes: Yes, that might be advisable.... What alligator?
Ahhh but what flag?

So the state flag of Queensland contains the Queensland coat of arms, but the city arms of Groningen contains the Groningen city flag. To my mind, this just emphasises the difference between flag and arms.

And gets us no further forward with my original question.
