I do have the flag of Ankh Morpork as approved by Terry :) , but its packed :( and not even here s it's in storage  . However I can confirm that it has the coat of arms on a blue ground :) a lot of city flags are like that.
Now we're getting somewhere, and sorry for missing your post earlier. I take it there's a fair amount of red in it, too, as the only description I can find in Night Watch is that the red of the flag in Tilden's office is "faded to a threadbare orange"?

Ah yes, thinking about it there were two versions done, one on a red background and one on a blue, this is quite a while ago. I bought the blue one which is the Ankh-Morpork Merchant Ships Flag of Convenience. (for hanging in your convenience  ). The red one was the main flag of the city sorry for the confusion there, if everything wasn't packed up ready for my move I could have checked before posting.

That second picture looks like a scene from Feet of Clay.
What makes me wonder: If the coat-thingy is at work again, do they now have a bunch of fourecksian animals?

Here's an interesting question. (well I think it's interesting, but I'm easily pleased) 8)

In Japan, there are different counting words for different things. For example tall thin things are ipon nihon sanbon, small round flat things are ichimai nimai sanmai, etc etc.

Anyhoos, animals are ihiki nihiki sanbiki, and birds are ichiwa niwa sanwa.

Yet rabbits are counted the same as birds NOT animals. Why? o_O

According to wikipedia

Japanese Buddhist monks were not allowed to eat any meat other than birds, but liked rabbit meat so much they came up with the contrived "explanation" that rabbits are actually birds, and that their ears are unusable wings. The rationale was that while moving, rabbits only touched the ground with two feet at a time. Nowadays, hiki is the usual counter for rabbits.
The full entry is here and boy is it complicated

Why do I read such things always when I am re-reading either Hogfather or Last Continent and am at a point where them wizards are given odd explanations for virtually everything....
