Feegled from the Telegraph:
Now that Matt Smith has announced his retirement as Doctor Who, it's high time that Hugh Laurie assumed the role he was born to play. Here's why:
1. He's already played the most alarmingly eccentric doctor in TV history.
2. He's the right age. The Doctors have been getting younger faster than policemen; I want one who's older than me, dammit.
3. He could borrow some of House's more interesting attributes – eg, the addiction to Vicodin, which would make for more amusing storylines than Tom Baker's jelly babies.
4. We have an Old Etonian Prime Minister, Mayor of London and Archbishop of Canterbury, so why not an OE Doctor Who?
5. It would really really annoy Stephen Fry.
