NOT The land of the risen Son!!
Eclipse of the sun - May 21

I was really looking forward to this coz I'd never ever seen an eclipse of the sun.
When I got up at 6:45 it was bloody raining!
It stopped raining at about 7:10 but was cloudy so thought there was no chance. :(
I kept staring at the sky, then for about 5 seconds the sun became visible, just at the "ring-of-fire" stage.
It went cloudy again then for another 10 seconds the sun popped out.
So these are all the photos I could take.

That's really Sod's Law. The same happens to me whenever I want to watch an astronomical event like meteor showers, etc. It's one of the reasons why I didn't go ahead with my idea of buying a telescope and try my hand at amateur astrophotography. The basic set up costs about £1600 and I finally decided that it wasn't worth the cost for the number of clear nights we get here. :(

Still, you managed to get a few shots through the cloud.

Well, that was a very one-sided game, which Chelski somehow managed to win.

Poor Spuds!

Thank you Pooh, I do think Chelski and West Ham were a tad lucky yesterday.
Blackpool could finish nuffin . Crazy game but thankfully ended well. If Vaz Te hadn't scored we would have had a baby on saturday

1916: the Western Front. Private Percy Blakeney wakes up. He is lying on fresh spring grass.
He can hear birdsong, and the wind in the leaves in the trees.
Where have the mud, blood and blasted landscape of No Man's Land gone?

2015: Madison, Wisconsin. Cop Monica Jansson is exploring the burned-out home of a reclusive - some said mad,
others dangerous - scientist when she finds a curious gadget - a box containing some wiring,
a three-way switch and a...potato. It is the prototype of an invention that will change the way Mankind views his world for ever.

And that's an understatement if ever there was one...
