Ray Winstone and Ben Drew (AKA Plan B), to star in the movie of The Sweeney! That's good casting and I've only seen a few mins of the original series with John Thaw and Dennis Waterman

Jack Regan, like John Thaw, was a Manc who'd lived in London for years and largely, but not completely, lost his northern accent. Ray Winstone is a Cockney, and also way too old to play Regan, who was supposed to be about 35 when the series started (Thaw was about 30).

I know nothing of Ben Drew's acting ability, but he's not my idea of a successor to Dennis Waterman.

That's no good. The Sweeny has to have Ford Granadas (for the cops) and Jags (for the crooks).

And there has to be lots of piles of boxes and leaves to show the cars driving fast!

The crooks can still drive Jags, the cops should probably switch to the Ford Mondeo
