Okay, well, I'm starting off a thread where we post title sequences from TV series that are particularly striking.

Now, I know what you're thinking, that I will be posting the obvious from me. So I'm actually starting off with an unusual one, of a series I haven't actually seen (nor do I wish to), but I am wondering, who has actually seen this series? I'm not naming it. It's a surprise. :twisted:

It was a great title sequence and if you watch carefully its actually different for each episode dependent on where more of the action will take place .
Liked the title sequence of Rome for its use of Graffiti

I quite liked the Game of Thrones title sequence

I have mixed feeling about this sequence. With all the little building-shapes 'blooming' over the landscapes it reminded me of one of those computer games where you create and grow cities. I suppose that's part of the point, and ties in with the word "game," but it also tended to create the impression of artificiality that is contradicted by the gritty execution of the show itself.

But in general it's the music that's important - for me - in a title sequence...

The title sequence for Game of Thrones looks impressive, I'll say.

And I did enjoy the titles for Rome, mentioned before.

Now, that first title sequence that I posted was for a series called Target, which was, I heard, the BBC's attempt at ripping off The Sweeney. Now, the guy who did the title music is an Aussie called Dudley Simpson.

While Simpson did a lot of work for Doctor Who as far as incidental music was concerned, he did not write the title music, which was written by another Aussie, Ron Grainer. But he did write the theme music for two other famous science fiction TV series.

The first was ITV's original answer to Doctor Who, The Tomorrow People. Surprisingly simple titles, but effective and creepy.

And the second? Well, this rather interesting title sequence for a show called Blake's 7.

There are also some interesting variations on the Blake's 7 titles made by fans. The second title sequence was given a good revamp here (crappy logo notwithstanding), and another fan, in creating a sequence for their fan comic continuation of the series, actually went back to the original conception for the title sequence.

The opening to Cowboy Bebop is startlingly good. Kanno's score is brilliant and the vibrant, fast moving colours make it particularly striking. I've been watching this show since I was a teen and it still gets me pumped up.

The opening to Cowboy Bebop is startlingly good. Kanno's score is brilliant and the vibrant, fast moving colours make it particularly striking. I've been watching this show since I was a teen and it still gets me pumped up.

Interestingly, one of the many inspirations for Evangelion was actually the Gerry Anderson series UFO, and the title sequence had elements cribbed for the Evangelion titles. Spot the similarities.

Now, speaking of popular anime, I might as well put down the title sequence for one of my favourites, Neon Genesis Evangelion (here, Tony, this is what it looks like).

I love the Evangelion opening for how utterly deceptive it is.

"Yay, nice happy music! Seize your destiny - oh God! Why Why Why arrgggh...." and then dissolving into inarticulate flailing, followed by curling up against the wall and sobbing.

Dead Like Me The girls and I are cacking at that one. Was the show as funny as the opening? LOVE IT.

No. Wikipedia says that Anno wanted extracts from some piece called Polovetsian Dances by Alexander Borodin.
