Was wondering, if you could dictate which 3 existing characters a DW plot should evolve around, who would you like to see?

The reason could be anything really - from sheer amusement to 'what would TP's imagination make of this???!' kinda thing :)

It could be a dud, but it could also be quite fun to have Death of Rats, Vimes and Rincewind team up. Just the sheer thought of badly disguised Vimes grumbling on lack of understanding of 'SQUEAK' could be fun (and I can hear the Patrician laugh hard somewhere), and Rince ... well, the big one or the little one, I doubt he'll be happy to be near Death in any form

Well we have no idea what happened to his aunt Lady Roberta Meserole (from Night Watch), she certainly seemed to have plenty of money and there is no suggestion that Vetinari was other than a gentleman scholar at the Assassins Guild so he probably comes from a rich family. I don't remember there being any other family members mentioned anywhere so by definition he is probably head of the family by now.

Ah but is he actually named as Vetinari in Sourcery? In quite a few of the early books they just mention 'the Patrician'. o_O
I think Sourcery was the first to actually give the name :)

You're right, it is the first time. I remembered noting his first mention when I was reading the books for the discussions on the CA board - I just couldn't remember which one it was.

There Must be some skelington's in the Vetinari house!

I would love to see Sam Vimes trying not trying to gloat as he has to chase a 'black sheep' Vetinari through the fragrant streets of Ankh Morpork! And it would be interesting to see Vetinari having to suffer the embarrasment and trying to manage a limiting factor! It would be interesting if the Guilds stood by him and the Times could have a field day!

It could end with the errant Vetinari joins the Watch, and being the best friend of Littlebottom.

Welcome to the site, Ziriath!

I guess it's possible there are other Vetinaris around that we haven't heard of. I don't think any of the books ever actually say that he is the only one. But I may be wrong.
