I always picture Robert Downey Jr as Sam Vimes. Having seen him play Sherlock, I'm convinced there could be no other!

On second thought, I wouldn't be too put off to see Hugh Laurie as Sam, although he is a bit lankier than I see Vimes in my imagination.

How about Carrot? Any nominations?

The character he played in band of brothers col winters was a quaker/t-totaller amongst all the other guys in the army and reminds me very much of carrot.
just looking touch too old nowadays.

All good choices for Sam. But for some reason, as I read the books, I see Steve Carrell as Sam. Didn't happen until I read the part about Sam (literally) running home to be in time to read Sam Jr. his bedtime story, then Carrell just popped up. lol

I love Julie Walters, but I think she's a little old to play Sibyl. Also, she's not fat - she was wearing a fat suit for the Harry Potter movies. Sibyl needs to be Considerably plus-size!
