What did you think of American Gods. Theres a sequel with Shadow called Monarch of the Glen as a short story in Smoke and Mirrors and there's a spinoff book called Anansi Boys about Mr Nancy and his sons

Just finished American Gods. Found it good to read, a bit daft in places but so darkly funny that you sometimes needed to put a light on!

Cleverly written. And I loved all the Gods he had picked out. IN a way very Terry Pratchett in another not Pratchett like at all.

A 'keepie book' for long distance travel!

One thing I am not certain about is what is Shadow living off? The money Wedensday gave him? I though he lost that ast some stage?

Edited cos I had a thought.....

Terry's style of writing is very cunning. He writes in relatively small blocks so you think you can just read to the end of a passage and then stop. But, of course, you finish that bit and keep going thinking that you'll just stop at the end of the next passage... and then the next...

It's like eating peanuts - you think you'll just have a few and then stop.

So love stories bring out your angry side

Started Lord Peter , a series of short sories by Dorothy L Sayers about Peter Whimsy.

Myself and the better half decided to broaden each others reading horizons by picking one of our own favourite books for the other to read.

I picked the Ladies of Grace Adieu by Sussana Clarke for her and she nearly finished it already

Those Dorothy L Sayers books are real favourites of Sharlene's.

Well the other half has a big collection of her books. never really read the whole cozy mystery stuff
Mysteries are Sharlene's 'thing'. I'm getting into them - love the Kathy Reichs books - but I tend to solve a lot of the plots by working out who the least likely murderer is.

Always meant to read the Kathy Reich books because of the whole Anthropology thing but haven't gotten around to it yet.
They are worth it just for that, she really goes into detail. In fact you may find Kathy Reichs overloads the story with it, I reckon some people get sick of it and others enjoy it. I tend to sit on the fence; I am aware of when it's more than the story warrants but because I find it interesting I quite enjoy it.

And then you've got her insane relationship with Birdie ;)

They are heaps better than Patricia Cornwell. I've hated the Patricia Cornwell books I've read. She's grossly overrated.

And Terry Pratchett gets a mention in one of the Kathy Reichs books. ;)
