And Another Thing... wasn't that bad. It could've been worse. Much worse.

Anyway, I've finished reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Interesting read, very bloody dark, though.

It's worrying that I first read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo when I was ten - one book that's almost as bad as some of the sections of it is The Knife of Never Letting go which thoroughly screwed me up.
Personaly though I'm currently perusing the last book of Christopher Paolini's Inheretence cycle with a little bit of Hitch Hiker on the side - all combing to keep me thoroughly entertained  .
cheers,
Hublander.

Poor Fellow My Country by Xavier Herbert.

It's about Australia in the late thirties, forties and fifties. It's about the Aborigines and the people who live alongside them. And it's about Australia itself.

Funny, sad and it makes me angry too. But a good read. Plenty of it to go.

Have you seen the movie, 'Rabbit-Proof Fence', Meer?

It's a really good movie about that period and the way that mixed-blood Aboriginies were treated. Well worth a look as it's an incredible, true story.

I just started reading His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman. I got them as a present a few years back but just got round to reading them last week (-:
Anyone else read them??

I recently read Northern Lights and really enjoyed it. It made sense of the movie!

I'll get the others as well when I see them in a charity shop.

Yes, I have read all of them, got the books here still too, usually pass them on, but thought I might like to re-read them at some stage.

Currently reading The Amazing Maurice & his Educated Rodents, by TP, for the 3rd time.

I'm reading Huckleberry Finn for reading group. It's not really my thing, but it's not too hard to get through.

Haven't seen it, but look forward to it!

Finished "The Wind Up Bird Chronicle". I really quite liked it and I think I'll give it a second reading at some point in the future, it's one of those books where you have to go over it a second time to understand all of it's constituent parts.

Since then I've read "A Study in Scarlet" "The Sign of Four" and am moving on to the "Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" stories from my vintage classics "The Complete Sherlock Holmes" special edition.

I have the all three books combined in one volume edition and it's singularly the most massive book I own, Northern Lights and Subtle Knife are excellent while Amber Spyglass is less so but all of them are well worth the read and very enjoyable.
