I'm re-reading "The Count of Monte Cristo" for the gazillionth time. It's such a good old rollicking yarn. Betrayal and anguish and revenge and murder and buried treasure and drug-induced sexual fantasies and cross-dressing lesbians - what's not to love?
Since my last post I've read "Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail" by Hunter S. Thompson "Down and Out in Paris and London" by George Orwell and "Night Walks" by Charles Dickens (from Penguin's "Great Ideas" series).
It is. Only got to reading Susanna Gregory because I brought her latest Mystery in the Minster set in York. That was it, I was hooked. I need 12, 14 & 15 to finish the set! They are SO good. The Doctor and the Monk are a wonderful creation.
Mind you I have tried her Thomas Challoner books, set in the restoration and find I can't get on with them at all. I don't find the characters as believable, mind you, I love it when she takes the odd pot-shot at Pepys.
At the moment I'm reading Are You Afraid of the Dark? number 15.I've never read any of these books before but I've seen a couple of episodes before and it was okay so I picked this up yesterday along with 44 other books  So as you can tell it'll be a long time till I get around to finishing Mort And I'm also going to Cork city on Sunday so I'll probably come back with more books from there as well
Finished Rivers of London by Ben Aaronwitch, and it was great!
Even though Punch&Judy is not something that is part of Norwegian culture-heritage, and so there is probably stuff and hints that went over my head, since I've only read about it
the publication of the next one has been put back, im waiting impatiently for it, try the midnight mayor books by kate griffin they are a bit darker than the aaronovitch books but very good

Read "Mr Norris Changes Trains" by Christopher Isherwood, it was very good. The characters were beautifully drawn; the plot extremely entertaining and the background of Weimar Germany framed the whole thing very nicely.
