I'm finishing Wise Mans Fear by Patrick Rothfuss then it'll be a Pratchett splurge . My scifi fantasy bookclubs reads for next month are Good Omens and Only You can Save Mankind. Then my irish bookgroup will be either Nation or Dodger ( vote is on going) . I finished Dragons of Crumbling Castle last week and it really makes me want to reread Carpet People.

Got Dragons of Crumbling Castle for Christmas and have only finished the first story - so difficult reading books at the moment. It's hardback so I don't take it out of the house and I mainly read comics at home and books out of the house. I sneak a few pages here and there, looking forward to Long Mars in paperback soon. :)

Currently reading Stick by Elmore Leonard - my other favourite author who died a couple of years ago, so now both of my favourites are no longer around...

Also still getting through Books of Blood by Clive Barker.

Reading Trigger Warning by Neil Gaiman.
Saw that on-line a few weeks ago and told Mate it would be a good birthday present. Saw it in the bookshop yesterday and wished I hadn't mentioned it to Mate...  Have to wait 3 months now.
I know exactly how that feels! I got my copy from the library. I so wanted to buy it when I found out that a small book store not too far away had signed copies. But, couldn't justify it with the budget being so tight right now. Maybe they'll still have copies when things are back on the upswing here. There's an excellent Doctor Who story in it!!

I really enjoyed Trigger Warning. Not every story is a masterpiece and there is no common thread but some of the stories are amazing so well worth the read. I would have read it for The American Gods story alone

I agree! I really enjoyed Trigger Warning too.

I started and gave up on both The Golem of Hollywood by Jonathan Kellerman and The Buried Giant by Kazuo Ishiguro.

I'm now reading Wait for Signs by Craig Johnson. It's a collection of short stories from the Longmire series. And they're so good!! I like the TV series, but haven't read the books. Reading these short stories, I'm definitely going to start reading the series. I think anyone who enjoyed Tony Hillerman will enjoy these.

Susanne, I recently finished reading a new Leaphorn/Chee book, by Tony Hillerman's daughter, Anne. The book is Spider Woman's Daughter and it's really very good. In some ways I found her writing better than Tony's in his later books. :)

I'm rereading The Long Earth books at the moment in preparation for The Long Utopia.

Ayup All...

Its been a while since I've read like I usually do, what with real life getting in the way. But I've started to get back in the Habit with Esk and Simon (OK, and Granny Weatherwax too) in Equal Rites. Esk and simon have just met... And my next book up will be that of one of Discworlds most under-estimated and explored characters, Teppic. Dang. Just had an Idea for a book... does it count if I write a Discworld story ? ?

After putting off reading the Akira manga for ages and seeing the differences between the movie and manga
how the film isn't a carbon copy of the manga and how there is a huge difference
finally persuaded me to start reading the manga

I'm finished with reading Never Google Heartbreak by Emma Garcia
and I find this book's main character Viv extremely irritating she lives in cloud cuckoo land oblivious to everyone around her and spends her time mooning over her SH*T of an ex fiancé and instead of treating her friends and family with respect and moving on with life and learning to live without her ex and move on to bigger and hopefully better things
and even though I slogged through to the last quarter of this book I think it's time to call it a day and return this book back to the library and thank my lucky stars that I only wasted my time and not my money with this book.
If wasn't for Viv being so annoying this book would've been a paint by numbers romance and I might have been able to finish it

Speaking of Tolkien ( I was, honestly!), I picked up a copy of The Children Of Hurin at the second hand shop recently. Amazing artwork by Alan Lee. Busting to read it but my perpetual 'to read' pile must have some type of order. It snuck in there near the top all the same ;) .

I bet Jan has read this one and will give me the big thumbs up.

Ghost, sounds like a good plan not to waste any more time on that book. Life is too short to read crappy books.

I just finished Bathing the Lion by Jonathan Carroll. Had a lot of promise until about 3/4 of the way through. The story was really different and intriguing, it had you trying to figure out what was going on, a little tripy/sci fi sort of thing. Then it all seem to just fall apart and the ending was really anti-climatic. Made me wonder if he never really knew how to end it and then just wrapped it up quickly. You know what I mean?
