Maskerade is lots of fun. I particularly like Nanny's attempt to describe what opera is like. ;) The first time I read that bit, I nearly fell off my chair. The Death bits are good fun too. But heck, if I tried to enumerate all the good bits in Maskerade, it'd probably be as long as the book itself. :p

I've worked in light opera and theatre for about 6-7 years and Maskerade is pretty accurate, sans all the Opera Ghost business (although there are plenty of theatres with ghost stories of their own). ;)

I'm currently reading a book about Ireland. I don't know much about the Emerald Isle, so I thought I'd better educate myself. :)

I'm most of the way through The Last American Vampire by Seth Grahame Smith. It's much better than his first book Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. I almost didn't try it because I thought the first one wasn't that great. Glad I did!

Currently a third of the way through the recently-released novelisation of Doctor Who: City of Death. Doing a new book-reading blog soon...

I'm 59 years old and guess what I've just read for the first time, I'm ashamed to say  Cather In The Rye! I absolutely loved it. Some books just shine, don't they?

Just read Longbourn by Jo baker. It's Pride and Prejudice from the servants point of view. I enjoyed it. The writing isn't amazing but the concept is great.

I've read 2 books by Alexei Sayle, The Dog Catcher and Barcelona Plates. Both books of short stories, I like the oddness of his characters.

Re-read Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency for the umpteenth time.

Am currently reading The Psychopath Test by Ron Jonson the same author of the fantastic The Men Who Stare At Goats.

Happy Reading.

After finishing the latest book in the Saxon series, Warriors of the Storm, by Bernard Cornwell, I have just gone back to the first book in the series - The Last Kingdom. The TV adaptation of this book starts on BBC tonight, so I thought I would refresh my knowledge before hand.

While I've posted a review in my book-review thread, I might as well mention, I just read a very interesting book on David Bowie, and particularly his alter ego Ziggy Stardust. It's called Ziggyology: A Brief History of Ziggy Stardust by Simon Goddard.
