I miss Flint and fizban, though
Flint is always in your heart, and Fizban does show up occasionally in the series, though mostly tis Tasslehoff who sees him the most. PheatherPhall........

He is in other series by Weiss and Hickman too, as Nabzif and other mixtures of the same letters.

I am into another Eric Flint book atm, "The Bavarian Crisis" I really do enjoy the series. If it had been any other chunk of the US that had been knocked back into 1633 Germany during the 30 years war it would not have been the same. A lot of thought went into the selection of characters and determination of the people, I also love how Jim Baen (may he rest in peace) took it on with such gusto, and then other people began to write short stories i.e. fanfic I think they call it and it became published, wonder of wonders. It is a good series to have on hand in case we wind up in worldwide anarchy so that we will have the ideas of how to make radios and down-time our technology so it might work and maybe, perhaps, with a whole lotta luck we may survive.

Pyramids ;)

I've just finished reading Sarah Waters' The Little Stranger. It's an OK story, but at 500 pages the pace was lacking somewhat. I think a ghost story should be a bit more exciting than just taking walks & doing household chores for 150 pages between strange knocking sounds o_O It was an 'emergency' read for an extra reading group session based on Man Booker longlist novels, so I had to get through it, but now I'm free to read Going Postal!

I shall assume you have not thrown yer back out with one yet... what is he anyway? a Mastiff or a Dane?

I am really bad at dogs, I know all about Newfoundlands because my Step-Monster had one...drool and slobber and long black hair along every wall about three feet high. He was a darling though named Barney. He could just walk up to the table and actually had to set his head DOWN to rest it on there. He was terrified of noise and used to move their bed across the room if there was nobody home during a thunderstorm and they had to sedate him for days around the 4th of July.
