I'm currently reading Jack of Ravens by Mark Chadbourn, Maximum Bob by Elmore Leonard and I'm looking with great dubiousness at a novel called The Enchantments of Flesh and Spirit by Storm Constantine, as part of something I'm being paid to write which is a good way out of my comfort zone. I'm almost scared to start it.

Stupid recession, making me go to places... Scary, scary places.

What's your job Danny? Are you a book critic?

Technically, I'm a decorator. What I really am is a writer who does whatever work I can get, in order to pay the bills until I get my big break. (We turn up everywhere, like daisies, nettles or Norovirus.)

... The reason I'm reading very salacious fantasy novels, is that I've been approached by someone who runs a... let's call it "specialist" website, to write something "specialist" for it. For cash. Since I figure being precious about your art is what you do when you're earning big already, I accepted. I don't know the "specialist" market very well, so I need to do some research first.

Let's just say that some of the "specialist" market, has very sophisticated tastes, then leave it there. Pretty please? There are some mental images I never wish to conjure again.

I'm reading 'Devil Bones' by Kathy Reichs. I love her books!
What about the TV show?
I've never seen the TV show. I do know that Kathy Reichs gets a lot of say in what goes on in the show and I understand that the books are very different (the main caharacter is much older for a start).

She wrote a bit about the show at the end of one of her books.

It's supposedly set before Tempe goes off to the job in Canada, though there are things left out.

We know she has an ex called Pete, but there doesn't appear to be a daughter, dog or cat!!

I think that in the TV series her character, Tempe is writing books under the pen name of Kathy Reichs. Soooo confusing.
